Welcome to South Central SALT Conference! Below you will find important information about Staff Development opportunities and XAMK activities.
STAFF DEVELOPMENT
We love our XA Staff! While your students are engaged in Workshops, we offer you value-added options to strengthen your leadership skills and communicate important information for you personally and for your ministries. We hope you will enjoy these staff development activities at this year’s SCSALT!

Your XAMK will be joining us on an exciting Jungle Journey as we travel from Genesis to Revelation and explore the 7C’s of history. Throughout SALT, ages 0-11 will engage in age-appropriate, high-energy Jungle Jam Assemblies with praise and worship. They will rotate through themed experiences like Rainforest Recreation, enjoy snacks in Canopy Café, take part in the story at Tree-mendous Science & Crafts, and dive into the Bible at Rain-or-Shine Bible Time! For ages 12–17yrs old, our youth will have their own dedicated services, featuring guest speakers, in-depth studies, practical teaching, and engaging activities designed specifically for them.
XAMK ACTIVITIES
Who are XAMK Activities for?
The XAMK program is available for all kids 0-17 who have registered for SALT.
We have 7 classrooms divided into age groups:
0 to 1yr old - Sugar Ants Class
2 - 3yr old - Army Ants
4 - 5 yr old - 3-Toed Sloths
6 - 7 yr old - Howler Monkeys
8 - 9 yr old - Toco Toucans
10 - 11 yr old - Stealthy Jaguars
12 - 17yr old - Gorillas (aka Youth)
When can I drop-off / pick-up my XAMK?
Sessions for XAMK will run 7 times throughout SALT: 3 Night Sessions, 2 Morning Sessions, and 2 Workshops. (Please note there is no XAMK Program for Group Processing Time). Please be prompt in picking up your child so our XAMK Staff has time to reset the rooms for the next session.
Where are the XAMK Activities located?
All XAMK classrooms listed above are located on the 37th floor of the Conference Center in the Majestic Rooms. You will need to take the Center Tower Elevator to get there.
What are your goals for XAMK?
From the moment your XAMK steps off the elevator onto the 37th floor, we want them to feel the excitement of going on a Jungle Journey through the 7 “C”s of history. Our goal for XAMK’s this year is twofold: first, we want them to experience SALT as a place to encounter Jesus and leave with a deeper love for Him; and second, we want them to see SALT XAMK as a conference created for them, not just something they have to be at because of their parents work.
We also want to create a safe and loving environment and to be able to serve your family in the best way. We are asking (if you haven’t already), please fill out the Parent Questionnaire sent to your SALT registration email ASAP. This will also help with expediency for the first session.
Who is over XAMK this year?
Cecil and Kayla Ellis are heading up XAMK SALT. They have been Directors at Nicholls State University for the past 16 years. They are parents to three children: 12-year-old twin daughters and an 8-year-old son. As a family, they love reading, running, swimming, and camping. They both grew up in church ministry and have consistently served wherever they were needed and across every age group. With more than a decade of experience each, children’s ministry truly feels like home to them.
